In all cases "Yes, with certain considerations".
The Spiral Health 3D scanner is non-invasive and only uses structured light. It won't affect or be affected by circuitry or electronic devices or objects people may have attached to their body.
However:
- If the object is reflective, it may reflect light back into one of the sensors causing scans to fail.
- If the object is loosely attached and moves during the scan, then it may cause a scan to fail.
- If the object is like an IV bag attached to a pole, then please ensure the object and pole is outside the scanner and preferably detatched during the scan.
- If the object is big then the scan will definitely see it and the image you see in the scanner and the image we use to process measurements will include it.
- If the object is worn near or on your hips or waist, the Waist to Hip ratio, Trunk to Leg volume and metabolic findings may be affected. It really depends on the size of the object.
- If the object is loose enough to move its position from the hip or waist then we recommend moving it near the extremities as they impact our measurements the least.
- Pumps or devices mounted to arms, legs etc are almost always fine so long as the they aren't reflective and loose and don't impact the ability of the scanner to differentiate the arms or legs from other parts of the body. If that happens then the scan may fail.
In all the above cases, we recommend attempting a scan and then reviewing the results to see how and/or if they have been affected.
